The Center for Energy Studies (CES), Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, successfully conducted a 10-day Professional Training on "Detailed Feasibility Study (DFS) for Solar PV Systems" from 21–30 June 2026 with the support from the Transforming Energy Access Learning Partnership (TEA-LP). The program gathered 24 participants from the academia, PhD scholars, M.Sc. students, engineering graduates and professionals from the energy sector to provide them with better technical knowledge regarding planning, design and execution of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects.
This program was a hands-on professional training, involved expert-led lectures, exercises, software-based modelling, group discussion, and project-based learning. The participants were educated and exposed on the entire process of a Detailed Feasibility Study (DFS) for Solar Rooftop (SRT), Solar Mini-Grid (SMG) and Solar Water Pumping (SWP) system.
Key Learning Outcomes
Throughout the training, participants acquired skills in:
The training ended with the group presentations and submission of DFS report prepared by each group. CES would like to express its sincere appreciation to all the resource persons, supporting staff and participants for their timely and enthusiastic participation that helped to successfully complete the program. These professional training programs continue CES's efforts to build the technical capacity of Nepal in renewable energy, energy planning and sustainable infrastructure development.
The CES being a national academic and research institution in the energy sector, will continue to organize advanced professional training programmes, workshops and capacity building programs on energy and sustainable development fields like energy systems and low carbon development modelling, renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency and energy policy analysis. Through these initiatives , CES will work to create a trained workforce that can contribute to evidence-based decision making in energy sector and speed up the pace of transition towards a sustainable and resilient energy future in Nepal.
