The Center of Energy Studies (CES), Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, invites applications from eligible postgraduate students for submission of thesis project proposals under the theme “Energy Access & Mini-Grid Systems” by 3.4.2026. This initiative is supported by UK Aid through the Transforming Energy Access (TEA) Platform.


1. Background
CES, as a TEA-LP partner institution, is engaged in strengthening research and capacity development in sustainable energy systems. This call aims to encourage innovative and applied research contributing to improved energy access solutions.

 

2. Thematic Areas
Design and techno-economic optimization of mini-grids, Demand creation and financing models, Energy Efficiency and E-Mobility, Renewable energy integration and storage, Energy access for underserved communities, Low carbon development

 

3. Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be postgraduate IOE students, aligned with themes, supported by a supervisor, and available during the funding period. Priority will be given to students who completed/ enrolled in “Local Solutions for Energy Access” and “Mini-Grids: Planning and Design.”

 

4. Funding, Support, Expected outcomes
Financial support, mentorship, networking opportunities, and presentation platforms will be provided. The funding recipient should acknowledge the TEA-LP project in their thesis report and related publications.

 

5. Application Requirements
Proposal (max 3 pages), CV, supervisor letter, proof of related course enrollment, transcript (if applicable).
